Organised around the Welsh fell running calander the date clashed with big orienteering event down the road at Swansea, which meant for a small field, just 8 on the long course and a dozen or so on medium. A mess up with map printing meant we had to make do with paper maps in poly pockets ( paper maps in Wales!!)
Took the direct route through quarry to control 1 for my sins, then pushed on through long rough grass and marshland, which made going hard and slow. Towards control 6 i was either going to sink without trace in marsh or fall off the end of the world unbelievable. By the time i got to contol 10 (5 hours) made the decision to miss 11 & 12 and take the fence line back to finish picking up 13 & 14 on the way. A solitary dayout on the fells, only saw one other person on course all day, a pilgrim bare foot near control 7 heading for stone burial circle in marshland, i wished him all the best with that one.
